Catskiing, powder snow, skiing, snowboarding! The snow days are spent in the famous steep tree glades of the Selkirks. On sunny days we move topside to vast alpine bowls rivaled by few catskiing operations or resorts anywhere.
Valhalla guests typically clock 7 to 13 runs a day, or 13,000 to 18,000 ft of vertical. Runs vary from 1200 – 3000 ft, taking advantage of the best snow and fun factor available on the mountain each day. The ride between runs allows you just enough time to share stories of the awesome turns you just had, while snacking on Carolyn’s delectible homemade delights!
We run two snowcats in our 21,500 acres of terrain ( twice the size of Whistler Blackhomb combined!) each carrying 12 guests and 2 guides. Regardless of weather, the snowcats allow us to ride limitless fresh lines all day – everyday.

Recently, we just opened up our new modern Italian restaurant, Marzano. We embarked on a trip to Naples, Italy in 2017. We enrolled in a one week course from one of the most revered, legendary pizzaiolas, Enzo Coccia, to understand the tradition and methods behind preparing the dough and working the forno. The course was rewarding and eye opening as we learned a century-old hand stretching dough techniques and simple authentic recipes. In addition to these well-guarded methods, we discovered the beauty of pure, fresh ingredients. The San Marzano tomato is a cornerstone ingredient that the locals take pride in as it is native only to the rich volcanic soil of the area. We were inspired by this and felt we needed to take the same care in selecting our ingredients, hence the name, Marzano as an homage to quality and authenticity.

Kootenai Hideaway is a private lakefront cabin accommodation moments north of Kaslo. Queens Bay Hideaway is a private lakefront cottage just 5 minutes north of Balfour.
The completely renovated cabin sleeps 5-6 and has a queen size bed and a double futon couch/bed with an upper bunk in the front view room. There are also two single beds in the loft bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped along with a BBQ. There is a full bathroom with a shower. There is everything that you will need in the cabin including all bedding, linens and towels. The hot springs were first visited by the Ktunaxa First Nations, who embraced the nupika wu’u or spirit waters for their healing and rejuvenating powers. Enjoy an indigenous inspired meal in the Ktunaxa Grill then retire in comfort to one of our 40 contemporary styled guest rooms. The hot springs are open daily for public enjoyment.

The fully equipped cottage has a full kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, microwave and a BBQ. There is a full bathroom with a large shower. Everything that you need will be waiting for you, including all bedding, linens and towels… if there is something more you require, just ask.
Head out and explore what the area has to offer. There are spectacular golf courses just minutes away, or soak in the mineral waters at Ainsworth Hot Springs, spelunk at Cody Caves Provincial Park, hire a fishing charter or hike, mountain bike or zip-line… so many opportunities are nearby so please ask for a “Daytrip Distance and Info sheet” to be sent to you. At the end of a day full of Kootenay style adventures, dine at any one of the excellent restaurants or pubs in the area. Then come home to peace and quiet and an evening of telling stories around your campfire on the beach.

In addition to our great golf course, we also have a full length driving range (which includes complementary use of clubs for those that are not packing) and a fully licensed restaurant offering up delicious meals at all times of the day!
The Balfour Recreation Commission operates and maintains community use facilities in the Balfour area. The BRC aims to promote healthy living and community spirit while building a network of community resources as a base for future events and community development.

Bearfoot Beach House located on the north shore at the east end of the west arm of Kootenay Lake, in the heart of Balfour, near the Kootenay Lake ferry terminal. With one hundred feet of soft sandy beach, this 600+ sq. ft. quiet suite is ideal for a golf vacation or a relaxing couples retreat. Featuring two bedrooms, large covered porch, private campfire pit, full size bathroom, bbq, outdoor shower and a great view from the fully equiped kitchen.
A short 30 min scenic drive to either Nelson or Kaslo.
