Golfing Around Nelson, BC
The region has plenty of golf options for you, your family and friends including several beautiful 9-hole layouts. Make sure you enquire with the Nelson and Area Visitor Centre. For more 18-hole golf courses in the Kootenay area, visit the Kootenay Golf Trail.
Featuring some of the most majestic views in BC, Nelson’s Granite Pointe Golf Club is a treat. The front nine takes you on a journey through the mountains and forest. Make sure you look back after walking off the opening green and soak in the spectacular setting of clubhouse, lake, and Orange Bridge. But that’s just a warm-up for the signature 6th and 7th holes where you’ll get to frame your tee shot against the stunning backdrop of lake, forest, and glacier. The back nine holes offer a more park-like setting with generous fairways but watch for the water challenges. Speaking of liquid, the fully licensed clubhouse restaurant, The Wedge, is just a few strides from the 18th green.
Gorgeous views of the main Kootenay Lake, and breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountain peaks and forests are the canvas on which you’ll create your memorable round. Balfour Golf Course is just 25 minutes from Nelson and is renowned for its scenery. The layout offers a superb blend of well-manicured fairways, many large and undulating greens, and the odd sprinkling of water hazards, just to keep you honest. The Osprey Mountain Grill offers a variety of sumptuous dishes breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
This is nature’s golfing amphitheatre. Set on the east shore of Kootenay Lake this golfing mecca offers it all. Kokanee Springs Resort has majestic rock walls supporting towering raised tee-boxes, streams, ponds, log trestle bridges, twelve water hazards and oh, did we mention the sixty-four bunkers? After your round reflect on the experience with a meal at Woods’ Pumphouse Grill.
