A thick blanket of white transforms the Selkirk Mountains into world class sledding terrain for the winter season. This area is known for a wide variety of thrilling sledding opportunities. The elevations run from 2,000 feet all the way up to 7,000 feet, with the main season running from December to April. In fact, around mid-April you could snowmobile one day and golf the next.
The Nelson SnoGoers Club now groom over 100 kilometers of trails in the Six Mile-Crusader, Springer-Lemon Creek, and Redfish Creek drainages. In addition the club has built, maintains, and supports safety cabins in Crusader Creek, Meadow Mountain, and Snowater. Complete with wood heat, and first aid gear. These Cabins are open to all, but ask that the non club memebers leave a donation to help with the maintenance costs. Tip: The Nelson Sno-Goers Snowmobile Club maintains several trails in the Nelson area. Trails cover the Six Mile, Crusader, Springer, Lemon Creek, Give Out Creek and Redfish Creek drainages and include maintained safety cabins at Crusader Creek, Meadow Mountain and Snowater. All cabins include wood heat and first aid kits and offer shelter as well as a warm place to simply stop for lunch while you are out enjoying the backcountry.
