Businesses in Nelson are cutting waste and saving money with commercial organics recycling. The ICI Bin Pilot Program is up and running, and we’re excited to welcome our first businesses on board: L&C Bakery and Alpine Lakes Suites. These neighbouring businesses are sharing a 1-yard bin for weekly organics collection—thanks to Lisa and Anne for taking the initiative. If your business generates regular food scraps—whether you're a café, grocery store, office, or anything in between—you might be a good fit for the program. Even smaller businesses can participate by teaming up with neighbours to share a bin and reduce costs. Not only is composting better for the environment and our community—it’s also significantly cheaper than mixed waste disposal fees.RDCK subsidies and rebates are available, so it’s a great time to get started.Turn food scraps into compost—not landfill waste.Learn more here - www.discovernelson.com/news/organics-bin-pilot-program/ ... The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce acknowledges that the land on which we live, work, and play is the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa, the Syilx, and the Sinixt peoples and is home to the Métis and many diverse Aboriginal persons. We honour their connection to the land and rivers and respect the importance of the environment to our strength as a community.
