Harrop Procter Forest Products (HPFP), the milling division of the Harrop Procter Community Co-operative (HPCC), has been operating for over 20 years, sustainably managing approximately 11,000 hectares of community forest. This initiative not only provides high-quality products like Cedar Siding, Decking, Fir Flooring, and kiln-dried lumber but also ensures stable employment for around 12 local families.HPFP is one of the few community forests to operate its own sawmill, emphasizing watershed protection and a sustainable economy. The mill's recent membership with the Council of Forestry Industries (COFI) enables it to supply contractors with graded and stamped custom timbers for new builds. With a revitalization project funded by HPCC revenues and a grant from the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund, the mill is set to enhance operations, improve waste utilization, and ensure worker protection. Proudly supporting the community, HPFP also contributes donations, complimentary firewood, and upgrades to local halls. We encourage everyone to support this incredible local business, and check them out for your lumber needs! ... The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce acknowledges that the land on which we live, work, and play is the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa, the Syilx, and the Sinixt peoples and is home to the Métis and many diverse Aboriginal persons. We honour their connection to the land and rivers and respect the importance of the environment to our strength as a community.
