Water Line Interruptions on Baker Street

The west end of Baker Street is currently undergoing some improvements which will result in the water line being disrupted in early May.
New Infrastructure Being Tested in Early May
The west end of Baker Street has been a busy zone over the last month with necessary infrastructure and road work taking place.
The water main was installed in April and during the week of May 4 to May 8, final testing will be completed. The process requires that all businesses at the west end of Baker Street—from the intersection through to Kal Tire—having water shut off and businesses hooked up to the new water line.
This will impact The Station building which houses the Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce, the Nelson Regional Visitor Centre, The Block restaurant, KAST, the Nelson Star, Juniper Engineering, The Nature Conservancy of Canada, Kokanee Mountain Zipline and Emily Support System.
The exact time and date is not known, but businesses should prepare for up to five hours of water shut off, which will impact bathrooms as well. You can prepare jugs of water, bottled water for drinking and buckets of water to assist with no water in bathrooms.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work with the City of Nelson and contractors to bring improvements to this important downtown neighbourhood.
