Due to COVID restrictions, The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce is unable to host our annual Community Celebration at Lakeside Park on July 1st. The Chamber has actively promoted a cross-cultural free family fun day at Lakeside Park with community groups, musicians and local artisans highlighting the day

We are looking forward to being back with a big community cultural and heritage celebration in the summer of 2022.

This year, we encourage you to celebrate Canada Day at home with smaller family gatherings at Lakeside Park, Gyro, Taghum Beach, or Kokanee Creek Provincial Park. Organize small backyard get-togethers with family and friends, or head downtown or within the region to support local restaurants.

It is our hopes that with relaxed COVID restrictions being rolled out this summer, the Chamber can host a smaller cultural event supporting local restaurants and pubs, local musicians and downtown businesses in late July or August. Details will follow Provincial Health Officer and COVID restrictions and will be formally announced when we have more guidance on what will be allowed.

Canada Day at Home Contest

To get you excited about Canada Day at home and support local businesses, we are hosting a Canada Day at Home contest. We will be selecting winners at random and giving away 5x $100 gift certificates to the local store or restaurant of your choice! Winners will be selected on July 5.
