Introduction to Meditation Workshop
The Kootenay Shambhala Meditation Centre is pleased to offer this rare opportunity to complete Shambhala Training Levels I & II: The Art of Being Human & Birth of the Warrior in one three-day weekend.

These introductory programs, led by visiting senior teacher Ginny Evans, present the practice of meditation as a way to uncover and contact basic goodness―the innate dignity and wakefulness that all human beings possess.

Everyone is welcome.

Schedule: Friday, March 5 - Sunday, March 7, 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM

AFKO is joining forces with Rendez-vous de la Francophonie
Nelson, February 28, 2010 – From March 5th through 21st, l’Association des francophones des Kootenays Ouest (AFKO) offers you a variety of Francophone oriented events! AFKO is joining forces with Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, which is organizing numerous activities all across Canada to promote the French language and its various cultural expressions. All of these events and cultural activities will take place on the days surrounding the International Day of the Francophone, celebrated March the 20th around the world. Everyone is welcome participate in this international celebration of the Francophone culture!

March 8: Special/ Canadian French Culture/On the radio show Méli-mélo on CJLY, 93.5 in Nelson, 107.5 in New Denver, and 96.5 in Crawford Bay.
Learn more about Canadian Francophone communities, their musicians and song writers.

March 11: Community meal/Potluck/Francophone Flavours
AFKO library, 723 Ward Street, Nelson at 6 p.m.
Bring a dish to share, prepare a traditional recipe of one of the Francophone peoples of the world: smoked fish with okra from Cameroon, bouillabaisse from France, a meatpie from Quebec or mashed turnips and potatoes Acadian style.

March 15: Special/Francophones Around The World/On the radio show Méli-mélo on CJLY, 93.5 in Nelson, 107.5 in New Denver, and 96.5 in Crawford Bay.
A virtual tour, in history and music, of Francophone communities across the world.

March 18: Movie night (Documentary) – In the AFKO library, 723 Ward Street, Nelson, starting at 7 p.m.
Featuring short films in French. Free popcorn. Donation appreciated.

March 20: A days of skiing at Red Mountain Ski Hill in Rossland. For carpooling from Nelson. Meet at the chalet at 9 o’clock beside the AFKO poster. After-ski gathering to be announced. To carpool call AFKO.

Mar 11 Mingle-inc, Cocktail Lounge Evening
Mingle-inc is a monthly cocktail lounge evening for business networking. The event is open to business owners, business start-up, artists and anyone who wants to meet with the business community. Drop in participants are encouraged to talk to someone new every 20 minutes. This is a no sweat event, everyone is there to have fun, make contacts & be inspired.

Mingle-inc is held every 2nd Thursday of the month at Louie’s lounge in Nelson from 5pm to 7pm. There will be music, a relaxing atmosphere and you can order any of the trendy cocktails or dishes from the menu. Come after work for a drink and bring a lot of business cards! Admission $5.
